In India, a lie is not a lie if you can give a reason. We train them young - from LKG - that is where the lying about age starts - wait...that is not lying bcz it is meant to admit the kid in the school.
When the Danish Cartoon came out, all the Imams were up in arms and our Secular Govt. protested strongly to the Danish Govt. to see that such things are not repeated and hurt the sentiments of the Billion muslims....
Now the Indian Govt. elected by a majority of Hindus to represent them says THERE was never a Rama. What happened to the secular crap ?
Imagine if the same "There is no Ram" statement had come from say Iranian President, then this Govt. would have maintained a stony silence of secularism.... Therefore, at best THIS Govt, should have just shut its mouth.
What do you expect when all the powerful in the Govt. are non-hindus and/or Hindu traitors?
What a crackpot of a fake secular comment: Never had guts to call a spade a spade.
If Hindus were behind this many terrorist actions and the suspects are all HIndus, sure all Hindus will be branded as terrorists. Apply human nature to it. I bet you will not go to the "bad part" of the city bcz of a shooting, killing, raping in that bad area. But, the entire city will brand that area as bad area and anyone claiming to be from that bad area will be avoided. THAT IS CALLED HUMAN NATURE.
So don't give this preachy outdated statement " terrorists have no religion" READ LOUDLY: Jehadists HAVE a religion they call it Islam.
The term "Housewife" has been replaced by "HOME MAKER" in the western world for a few decades. Here is some good news I read about "HOME MAKERS"
A home maker earns an equivalent of some $700. You have been hearing that IT engineers make as much in India as they make in US. By that same scale
<a href="http://www.moneycentral.msn.com/content/CollegeandFamily/P46800.asp">a home maker is worth this much </a>
People who make fun of home makers only exhibit their shallow knowledge about the world, culture, economics, and the importance of human contribution to their own development.
Reminds me of the neem tree in front of our house. When the house was being built, suddenly we saw a plant on the southwest corner of the house in front. Some bird must have dropped a seed which took roots. I and my sister used to water it and when the winds split its main trunk (which was 1" in diameter), we plastered it together. shepherds used to sit outside the house under the shade. The tree itself grew big, and the new house owner next door wanted to cut it off as it was intruding into his front yard and dropping the seeds and leaves. I had to fight and dared him to cut the branches on his side - but if the tree fell I was going to take legal action. Now that was a tricky act and he did not cut it.
The tree is still there. I hardly go visit the house - but when I see the tree I smile looking at the plastered place, and the memories it unearths every time.
The tree is the link between my present and my past.
I am glad that India I left behind has not changed much. I went through this Saga for my passport - for 18 months. The reason was in my child hood passport, my name was given differently and I had to prove that I had changed my name legally - which I have not, and BTW, I have no proof of ANY legal name except the high school certificate that had yet another version of my name.
With me so far ???
I spent my weekend Monday holiday visiting Sashtri Bavan and Sashtri Bavan Pillaiyaar did not help me bcz he must have been overwhelmed with passport applications/complaints. Finally I got the documents to get visa asking me to get within a week - yeah...but I could not get it stamped on my Ration card. This time, I decided to do something that Rajini could copy in his movies. I literally pushed the peon and barged into a conference room where the Regional Director was chairing some meeting. What was he going to do ? cancel my passport ?
When I explained something his chamcha assistant blabbered something. I looked at him and told him in chaste Madras language "Shut up your mouth and stand in a corner" (Well, I used to look like Villain Manohar and ppl did respect me a little) When i cornered the officer with the exceptions on the passport rules and my own documents, The RPO asked his Assistant Iyengar to "luke indo the madder".
I got the passport next day - out of nowhere.
I had to get something done similar regarding my Indian bank account once - but that is for another day.
So it looks like I need to renew some of my original skills to get anything done in India - STILL.
Long live Indian tradition.
Funny as your blog is, much of it is sadly true. People don't want daughters. If they end up having daughters then they try to "marry her off" somehow paying hefty "downpayment." If they end up with beautiful daughters, then they try to marry her off to the wealthiest.
In short, conversion of a woman into a commodity is complete. Of course, women are catching up fast and playing the same game with men in terms of looks, wealth, and barter deals - which makes matters worse.
I am convinced marriage was always a gamble - only it is now fast becoming a racket.
One tiny glitch.
No one lives a day thinking they will be dead the next day. The problem is everyone assumes they will live the next day and working ever so greedily to make the next day better.
On a lighter note, if you knew you were going to die the next day, you would be calling all and sundry to say good bye.
I am quite sure you are telling the truth. Some times when the truth is unbelievable and falls outside of the accepted range of crimes people tend to laugh. So you are better off telling only 25% of the stories - rape at 6 and a handful of times before marriage and the abuse by your muslim husband. Now the society will believe and take you seriously. If you want to change your name you can do so in US very easily and in uld change your name in the country that gave you the current passport. In India, you need to give a small ad in Hindu or express paper (like any other classifieds). after a specific number of days, with no response or objections, you take it to the passport office and get a new passport - rules might have changed now though. Hopefully, you will have a more peaceful life from now on.
CAN CHATTING BECOME CHEATING?
Perhaps you should convert this into a Masters thesis in the field of Social behavior or "virtual intimate relationship." Just like there you presented all types and did not take any side, and left half way saying it could be anything depending on the person....
But, whatever you said is 100% true, and I agree whatever it is the individual decides, acts, justifies, and deals with the consequences. The moment the second person - a real partner - gets involved in the matter, the problem is all 100% real.
