Random Gore

AB:

Nothing about the poem or the blog. Something more urgent and important. Do you realize you seem to have slowed down and your production rate (of comments and blogs) needs to be speeded up ?

am curious.. why the hebrew princess ? makes me guess but would rather not (as I am always wrong).

My Adventures in Papua New Guinea

The problem of working in a rural village in India are 1. it wont pay as much (perhaps the writer was just a MBBS), 2. too much pressure politically speaking, and 3. you will be expected to stay permanently whereas everyone must have known that the stay at Papua NG would be temporary.

Besides a few years of foreign experience certainly broadens ones horizons.

SHE'S LEAVING HOME

The only thing that is more painful than a mother-daughter separation is a father-daughter separation.

Unfortunate Bangalore

Good that it was not me who write this blog.

In fact the title should have been UNFORTUNATE INDIA. Bangalore just got on the "Terrorist Map of India" recently.

The educated Hindus (mostly) think this way although they would not say so outwardly. The blame for this lies with the muslims who have been isolating themsleves through the last 60 years.

I know of a Pakistani Doctor in US (who migrated from India to pakisatan as a young boy) who suddenly calls himself an Indian Muslim. Perhaps soon he will simply claim to be an Indian.

Euthanasia: The Right To Die

Euthanasia is a difficult issue for everyone involved. If the patient insists on living, no matter how difficult a life, it becomes very uncomfortable for the loving. It is quite common to see relatives wishing in a hushed voice that the "old one" in the house passes away - especially when there are some marriages lined up.

Every religion is against suicide - euthanasia is interpreted as such. There is a difference though. In old days no one tried to prolong a life - rather no one knew how to. These days, medicine has improved tremendously - but still it can only postpone death cannot bring a terminally ill patient back to normal life.

So the question is: Is prolonging "life" or keeping death at bay is ethical ? That too, when it comes to patients in coma who are tied to machines.

We will never know until the clock strikes for us.

The Olden Golden Madras

Memories of places and locations are special because they tend to outlive people who change and leave. Even if a shop is clsoed the shop is located in that place in YOUR mind bringing all the experiences and people associated with it. I had the fortune to listen to the whining of my grandfather, then my father, and my own experiences to imagine the changes that have taken place in madras over the last 100 years.. They showed me literally which building came in what year replacing what....and which friend of theirs lived where. It might be an overkill like someone said, but long after they are gone, those places remind me of their words and the all those experiences in thsoe times.

Well... ask your amma about Saphire (Blue Diamond and Emerald) and the first Multiplexer and Anand and Little Anand showed mostly English pics.. Little Anand showed continuously the same picture without any break and you can go and sit at ANY time.. Well in case she did not tell you that... What amazes me is that when I see a 1900 Madras map and all the appropriately named streets.....(which no one would understand now without those maps).

Do you remember any tram running on Mount Road - ooops Anna Saalai ? Yeah.. I am after all 85 yrs old...;)

IFor your memories.... Suddenly I remember seeing buses plying from Lighthouse to oterh nplaces.. never realized or saw it next to the High court... Hm... there is a road that runs through high court which will be closed for 1/2 day every year... Check on that next time...

Love After Marriage

You are still in the honeymoon stage.... But you are right on some aspects... Before marriage a couple behaves like in an interview. After marriage, it is like working in a company - each learns about the others negatives. How they adjust and continue to work or go to another company depends on the company and the employee's attitude.

Anyway... tell me when the honey moon gets over and the real challenge starts with kids, in-laws, and career challenges.

Hello! Moral Police?

As a true Hindu, in contrast to the Fundamentalist Hindu morons, Pubali will post (artistic) cartoons of Muhammed and, perhaps. Jesus in the nude tomorrow. If he is not an artist, then it is time to learn by catooning/drawing the pictures of the Prophets - better late than never.

Advance congratulations on your artistic debut.
